Mrozowski and Walker Awards

The American Carbon Society invites entries from around the world for two competitions: Best Student Oral Presentation (Mrozowski Award) and Best Student Poster Presentation (Walker Award). The procedure for Carbon 2013 will be as follows:

1. Students who have not obtained their PhD degree by June 30, 2013 are eligible. They should indicate their intent to enter either or both competitions by checking the appropriate box(es). This can be done on both the “Short Abstract” and the “Extended Abstract” forms. There is no limit to the number of entries by students’ supervisor, university, state, or country.

2. Students should also provide the name and e‐mail address of their graduate thesis supervisor. Conference organizers anticipate contacting each student’s faculty advisor to confirm that he or she endorses the entry(ies).

3. A panel designated by the American Carbon Society will review the extended abstracts and select the finalists for both student award competitions. It is anticipated that about a half dozen finalists will be selected for each competition.

4. The competing students papers will be scheduled early in the week (Monday‐Wednesday) to judge them and announce the recipients of the Mrozowski and Walker awards on Thursday evening.
